American Chamber Brass
Chris Dulin... is currently a member of the Dallas Opera Orchestra, the Dallas Wind Symphony, and the Dallas Summer Musicals Orchestra and the Casa Mañana Musicals Orchestra. He also performs frequently with the Fort Worth Symphony and has toured nationally with Broadway musicals. Mr. Dulin is also in demand with a number of other orchestras and chamber groups. He received his education at Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas at Austin. He is formerly the Professor of Horn at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Richard Murrow... is currently the principal tuba with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, Texas Chamber Orchestra, American Chamber Brass, and is co-leader of the jazz group Brazzology. He has also played and recorded with both the Dallas Wind Symphony and the Dallas Jazz Orchestra. In 1996, Mr. Murrow recorded his first feature CD with Brazzology co-leader, Larry Spencer, entitled Pick Yourself Up. The recording achieved international success with sales throughout the U.S. as well as Europe and Japan. He has recorded numerous commercial CD’s, plus radio and TV jingles. Mr. Murrow is a former member of the U.S Naval Academy Band, The Navy Show Band. In his early career, he traveled with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Band, The Moscow Circus, and Ice Capades. He has also played with a host of international artists including Mel Torme, George Shearing, Brian Wilson, The Moody Blues, and Robert Guillaume just to mention a few. Mr. Murrow has taught Tuba and Euphonium at Texas Christian University since 1996. Prior to his appointment at TCU, Richard Murrow taught at the University of Texas at Arlington for fifteen years.
Bob Burnham... has a wide range of musical experience that includes performing with the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus, Sammy Davis, Jr., the Walker, Texas Ranger TV show, and the Dallas Opera. He is a member of the Dallas Wind Symphony and the Texas Wind Symphony as well as the Texas Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Burnham has over 30 years of studio teaching experience in low brass and is currently the low brass Instructor at Collin County Community College. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and a Master’s from Indiana University. Mr. Burnham has completed 60 hours of coursework toward a Doctorate in Brass Pedagogy from Indiana University.
Bert Truax... is a dynamic performer, composer, and teacher. He graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in 1976 and has studied with such notable teachers as Joseph Alesi, Sr., Gilbert Johnson, and James Stamp. Mr. Truax played second trumpet in the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra for one season and was the second trumpet in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for 23 years. As a composer, he has written commissions for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Bach Society, West Point, Joseph Alesi and David Bilger. He is also an active teacher and clinician. Mr. Truax owns the company White Rock Music that sells his compositions and his instructional DVD Bert’s Basic Brass. The company also sponsor’s the Bert’s Basic Brass Summer Camp for trumpet students and features Mr. Truax and other internationally known trumpet artists.
James Sims... Is an active free-lance musician in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He is principal trumpet in the East Texas Symphony, the Waco Symphony, and the Wichita Falls Symphony. He also plays with the Dallas Wind Symphony and can be heard on all DWS recordings. In addition to those classical venues, Mr. Sims plays for Casa Mañana Musicals in Fort Worth. Recently he has been featured as a soloist with several area orchestras. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts from The University of Texas at Austin, where he studied trumpet with Ray Crisara. His treatise title was The Analysis of the Trumpet Works of Andre Jolivet, with Special Emphasis on Their Performance. He also received a Master’s of Music degree from UT. His Bachelor’s degree is from Baylor University. |
