The Longview Symphony is very proud to sponsor two excellent student orchestras.

The Longview Preparatory Strings, LAPS, is led by the Longview Symphony Assistant Concertmaster, Renee Ward. LAPS is an educational ensemble for our youngest string musicians, from fifth through the ninth grades.

The Longview Area Youth Symphony Orchestra, LAYSO, led by Mark Crim, Professor of Music at East Texas Baptist University, provides accomplished young musicians in the eighth grade to age 21 an opportunity to participate in a full orchestra, complete

with strings, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments.

Young musicians from around the East Texas area audition to participate in these groups.

To learn more about the Longview Area Youth Orchestras, or to set up an audition, contact Mark Crim, Music Director and LAYSO Conductor at 903-576-1455 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
